During his impactful three-season stint with the Omaha Mavericks, Richie showcased his prowess on the mound, compiling a 5-8 record in 109 innings pitched. With 94 strikeouts and a .256 batting average/against, Richie consistently demonstrated his ability to rise to challenges. As the staff ace for the Mavericks in both 2020 and 2021, he led the team in key categories, including games started, innings pitched, strikeouts, and wins.
In the unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign, Richie’s talent shone brightly. With a team-best 2.49 ERA in 21 innings pitched and 22 strikeouts, he was off to a remarkable start. His season was punctuated by moments of brilliance, including a stretch of 14 consecutive scoreless innings against formidable opponents like Chicago State and Creighton. D1Baseball recognized Richie’s breakout performance, crowning him the Breakout Pitcher of the Year in the Summit League, and ranking him as the No. 3 MLB Draft prospect in the conference.

Richie’s journey continued into the following spring, where he once again flourished at the forefront of the Mavericks’ staff. Leading the team with 79.1 innings pitched and a team-best 68 strikeouts, he stood as a beacon of consistency and determination. His impact extended beyond the mound, as he consistently held opponents to a .239 batting average.
A Triumphant Homecoming:
Richie’s journey came full circle as he returned to his hometown to join the University of Minnesota’s baseball program. A monumental homecoming for this dedicated athlete, Richie’s presence on the roster adds a touch of local pride to the Gophers’ lineup. His journey from the local high school diamond to the hallowed grounds of the University of Minnesota is a testament to his unwavering commitment and talent.
