Nick Caldeen is a highly dedicated and versatile member of the Icemen coaching staff, having joined the program in the fall of 2019 after graduating from Bethany Lutheran College. Throughout his time with the Icemen, Nick has taken on numerous responsibilities and has become an integral part of the organization, overseeing Strength Programs, Summer Camps, Catching Camps, Teams, and administrative work.

Originally from Blaine, MN, Nick made his mark as the starting catcher for Blaine High School during his junior and senior years. His exceptional performance led to him being named captain and earning an All-Conference season with the Bengals.

Nick’s passion for the game continued at Bethany Lutheran College, where he had a remarkable career as the team’s starting catcher from 2015 to 2019. He played a crucial role in leading Bethany to their first conference championship in 2018, repeating the title in 2019. As a captain during his junior and senior years, Nick received recognition as an All-Conference player both years. He holds several records at Bethany, including most home runs, doubles, put-outs, and caught stealing in a season.

Demonstrating his exceptional abilities, Nick also had the opportunity to play for the Thunderbay Bordercats in the prestigious Northwoods League during the summer of 2018, showcasing his talent and leadership as a Division III player. Nick graduated in 2019 with a degree in Exercise Science, and since then, he has remained actively involved in the baseball community. His experience as a field director for the Minnesota Twins Summer Baseball Camps allowed him to contribute significantly to the success of the camps.

Additionally, he served as the JV coach for Totino-Grace High School for three years, learning valuable coaching insights under the guidance of Mike Smith, the Head Varsity Coach and AD at TG. As a coach, Nick has demonstrated remarkable success with his teams, achieving victories in various tournaments. His leadership qualities and dedication extend beyond the field, as he strives to positively impact the lives of young athletes both on and off the field.
