Justin Gominsky

Justin Gominsky, a former Mahtomedi Zephyr, Minnesota Golden Gopher and Houston Astros affiliated player, brings an extensive playing background into the Minnesota Icemen. Founded in 2014, Justin has brought over 15 years of club baseball experience to the Icemen, which provides a solid foundation to everything the Icemen do.

Justin was a two-sport standout at Mahtomedi High School. As a 2x all state selection in Baseball and an all state football selection as a senior, Justin drew multiple NCAA Division 1 scholarship offers both in Baseball and in Football as a wide receiver. Justin was also selected to play in the Lions all-star game in baseball, and the metro vs. outstate all star game in football.

Gominsky went on to have a very stellar career in Baseball at the University of Minnesota. As a freshman Justin made an immediate impact hitting .338 with 35 runs scored, 25 RBI and swiping 11 bases in as many attempts. He was selected that year to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, the collegiate baseball magazine freshman All-American team, as well as the Big Ten all-freshman team.

After continuing his strong play with the Gophers, Gominsky was then drafted by the Houston Astros in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball Draft in 2011.

Justin went on to have early success in professional ball in the Astros system becoming a New York Penn League All-Star. In 2012 with the Astros, Justin was awarded Minor League Defensive Player of the Year, Posting a .996 Fielding Percentage while having 26 assists from the Outfield. Notable players that Gominsky played with or alongside while his time in the Astros system include: Carlos Correa, Lance McCullers, George Springer, Chris Devinski, Josh Hader, Brett Phillips, Chris Carter, J.D Martinez, Vince Velasquez, Mike Foltynewicz, Delino Deshields Jr, and David Rollins among others.
