Joe Axelson brings extensive pitching experience to the Icemen staff after a very successful High School and College Career North Dakota State University and Southwest Minnesota State University.

2014

Named team best pitcher … appeared in 12 games with 10 starts … finished 4-3 with two complete games and one shutout … also had one save … tossed a seven-inning no-hitter vs. Bemidji State (3/12) with seven strikeouts … named NSIC Pitcher of the Week on March 17 … named national pitcher of the week by both the NCBWA and D2baseballnews.com  … led team with 55 strikeouts … tosseed nine-inning complete game vs. Wayne State (4/12) with nine strikeouts … had six or more strikeouts in five starts … pitched six or more innings in seven starts.

2013

Pitched in six games with five starts … tossed one complete game vs. Minnesota Duluth … finished with an 11.51 ERA in 22 2/3 innings … recorded a 2-3 record, defeating Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth … season-high three strikeouts vs. Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota Crookston.

Spent two seasons at North Dakota State … redshirted in 2011 … did not appear in any games during 2012 season.
